Main Campus General Summary Assign work to and supervise custodial employees. Maintain buildings in a safe, clean and neat manner. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Plan, issue and monitor the job assignments given to custodial staff. Travel to assigned buildings for inspection and provide needed supplies and equipment. Inspect completed assignments and determine the need for additional work. Research new custodial equipment and techniques and recommend their application. Provide cost analysis reports is required. Communicate with University departments on custodial issues. Assist Physical Plant project managers and trades persons, as directed. Maintain safety standards to assure compliance with University, state and federal codes. Order and receive materials for custodial use. Request building and equipment repair. Receive and attempt to resolve employee complaints and grievances. Interview, train and evaluate new custodial employees. Record, compile and verify time cards and sheets. Perform related Departmental duties, as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ability to read, write, interpret instructions and perform basic arithmetic calculations, skills typically acquired through the completion of a high school education, is necessary. One year of custodial experience is necessary. Two years of supervisory experience is necessary. Ability to lead and direct the work of others is necessary. Possession of a valid Michigan driver's license is necessary.
