SUMMARY:
Performs a variety of school custodial duties such as: vacuuming, collecting and disposing trash, dusting, sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning restrooms, refinishing floors, moving furniture, minor maintenance repairs, snow removal, and lawn care.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
This class specification lists the major duties and requirements of the job and is not all-inclusive. Incumbent(s) may be expected to perform job-related duties other than those contained in this document and may be required to have specific job-related knowledge and skills. Works in a team environment with standardized work processes and procedures. Performs cleaning tasks and various seasonal duties as assigned by the Building Head Custodian. Cleans and polishes all stainless steel, chrome, drinking fountains, and sanitary boxes. Performs routine maintenance of carpet, trash removal, and dust control; vacuums edges, work surfaces, furniture, and chalkboards as needed. Maintains the appearance and cleanliness of the restroom floors, fixtures, chromes, walls, toilet bowls, wash basins, soap dispensers, and mirrors. Cleans and disinfects restrooms and ensures supplies are adequate for the next day. Cleans vending machine areas, elevator landings, and dust machines' tops. Empties trash and recycle baskets as instructed. Sets-up meeting rooms. Washes inside windows, glasses. Performs minor repairs/maintenance as needed. Strips and refinishes floors, spray buff, sweep and mop, extracts carpets as needed. Stocks cleaning supplies and chemicals with proper label for daily use. Establishes and maintains positive working relations with all team members, supervisors, students, teachers, parents, and all other building staff and visitors. Promotes and supports the overall mission of the District by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with public and staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent. OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Required Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation. Driver's license. Required Knowledge and Skills
Required Knowledge:
Proper cleaning techniques, cleaning products, and equipment. Safety principles, practices and equipment related to the work. State and Federal program requirements and regulations. Computer applications related to the work. Correct business English, including spelling, grammar and punctuation.
Required Skills:
Operating and maintaining tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner. Following and maintaining safety standards. Following verbal and written instructions. Contributing effectively to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals, objectives and activities. Commitment to the District mission, which is to ensure high quality, innovative, challenging education where all learners are valued and respected. Performing assigned responsibilities in a manner consistent with the District's established Core Values. Advancing the District's mission and values through careful attention to the key issues of Learning, Environment, and Resources.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed indoors and outdoors at Hopkins facilities; requires constant physical efforts; may be exposed to safety hazards and dangerous tools and equipment; safety precautions must be followed including use of safety equipment; a job in this category may require walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching, climbing ladders, and ability to frequently lift and move items weighing up to 100 pounds.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed indoors and outdoors at Hopkins facilities. Travel required to locations throughout the District.
Hours of Work:
8 hours daily, 40 hours per week, 261 Days
Salary/Hourly Rate:
Maintenance Employee Labor Agreement - SEIU
Range:
