DESCRIPTION
The Church of St. John Vianney in South St. Paul, MN is seeking a custodian to work 40 hours Monday-Friday. Exact weekly schedule will be determined upon hiring and may include a Saturday shift.
Responsibilities include the following:
Be on time, present, and ready to work for all scheduled hours. Ensure proper cleanliness of facilities in compliance with state and county health codes and to the standards of the organizations. Be aware of needs for repairs and report these to the Pastor or Administrative Assistant. Assist in proper maintenance and operation of all systems including plumbing, electrical, septic, exhaust, fans, ventilation, fire protection (alarms, extinguishers, and sprinklers), sound system, and security alarms. Use caution and care in the use of all supplies and equipment according to Federal, State, and local statutes, and according to manufacturer instructions and safety data. Assist in major projects for remodeling, improving or changing the physical plant or grounds in coordination with the Administration. Accomplish all tasks assigned by Administration in carrying out the daily, weekly, monthly, annual, seasonal and special maintenance plans. Dust cabinets, furniture, shelves and other fixtures to maintain a pleasant visual environment. Vacuum, clean, and wax floors as necessary. Use proper cleaning agents and tools in cleaning of church areas, bathrooms, kitchens, offices, meeting rooms, storage areas and windows. Collect and dispose of garbage and recyclable materials Shovel/plow snow, salt/sand sidewalks as needed. Make repairs and replacements of fixtures as directed. Repair and maintain structures as directed. Lock and unlock facilities according to schedule and as needed by other staff, parishioners, and volunteers. Receive deliveries of maintenance supplies and equipment. Be available to direct other deliveries to their proper destinations. Be prepared to lift and transport items (with proper equipment if appropriate). Assist in setup of furniture, fixtures and equipment as requested by the Administration Direct contractors in the performance of their duties as assigned by the Pastor or Administration. Clean spills promptly as needed. Continue job-related education as required by state and federal guidelines and by the Administration. Prepare written reports of work completed as requested by the Administration. Attend parish staff and other meetings as requested by the Pastor and supervisor. Work with other staff members to ensure a functioning and pleasant parish environment. Work with and assist parish, and community volunteers on parish grounds and facilities. Notify the Pastor or supervisor immediately of any major areas of concern or difficulty. Perform other duties as requested by the Pastor, and Administrative Assistant.
