Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

Job Summary St. Monica Catholic Church is seeking a dependable and hardworking Custodian to maintain the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of parish facilities. The Custodian is responsible for ensuring that church buildings, offices, meeting spaces, restrooms, and grounds are clean, orderly, and welcoming for parishioners, staff, students, visitors, and community members. This position supports the parish mission by providing a safe and hospitable environment for worship, ministry, and parish activities. Essential Responsibilities Clean and maintain church, parish offices, classrooms, meeting rooms, hallways, restrooms, and other parish facilities. Perform routine custodial duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, sanitizing, and trash removal. Set up, arrange, and take down tables, chairs, and equipment for parish events, meetings, and liturgical celebrations. Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies, restroom products, and other facility necessities. Assist with light maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, replacing air filters, and minor repairs. Ensure parish grounds, sidewalks, entrances, and parking areas are clean and free of debris. Assist with seasonal tasks such as snow removal, ice treatment, and landscaping support as needed. Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, and repair needs to parish leadership. Follow all safety procedures and maintain compliance with applicable health and safety regulations. Assist with opening and securing parish facilities as assigned. Support clergy, staff, ministries, and parish organizations with facility-related needs. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous custodial, maintenance, or facilities experience preferred. Ability to operate cleaning equipment and custodial tools safely and effectively. Knowledge of proper cleaning methods and safe handling of cleaning products. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently. Reliable, punctual, and dependable work ethic. Ability to interact respectfully with parishioners, staff, volunteers, and visitors. Commitment to supporting the mission and values of the Catholic Church. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to perform physical labor and custodial tasks efficiently. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to identify maintenance and safety concerns. Ability to prioritize tasks and respond to changing parish needs. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Good communication and teamwork skills. Working Conditions Work is performed indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. May require occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays to support parish events and liturgical celebrations. Exposure to cleaning chemicals, maintenance equipment, and environmental conditions typical of custodial work. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and lift for extended periods. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds. Ability to safely operate custodial and maintenance equipment. Ability to move tables, chairs, and other equipment for parish functions.
