Full Job Description Position Summary:
This is a full-time, 40-hour per week position. The regular schedule will be Sunday to Thursday; however, some Saturdays are mandatory. If you are scheduled to work a Saturday, your hours for that week will be revised to keep you at 40 hours a week. You must have a valid ID and be able to pass an extensive background check and drug test. The Custodian is responsible for conducting all job duties in accordance with company policy and all safety protocols and supports the overall objective of meeting the expectations of Second Presbyterian.
Relationships:
  • Develop and maintain respectful, courteous, and professional relationships with church staff, visitors, and members.
  • Provide assistance and hospitality for individuals and groups within the church building and grounds. Be available and visible for those who may need your help.

Operations Manager Major Responsibilities:
  • Set up and take down events, including tables and chairs.
  • Basic cleaning and maintenance functions to present an inviting and hospitable environment for members and guests.
These tasks include, but are not limited to: Cleaning floors (mop, sweep, vacuum, wax and carpet cleaning) Sanitizing bathrooms and kitchens (toilets, sinks, walls, dishes, Diaper-Genie) Cleaning windows and sills Collecting and taking out trash Refilling supplies (soap, TP, paper towels) Performing maintenance activities (related to cleaning equipment and machinery) Performing detailed deep cleans when required
  • Ensure that the safety and health requirements for the building are met
  • Report property damage to supervisor.
  • Keep track of supply usage and communicate to supervisor when it's time to reorder supplies.
  • Be familiar with the security system to make sure the building is secure before leaving.
  • Additional tasks as needed and designated by the supervisor or Head of Staff.
Professional Qualifications Required:
  • Ability to maintain effective professional working relationships with other employees, the congregation, and guests of the church.
  • Capability to perform all physical requirements of the position, including moving up to 50 pounds.
  • Working knowledge of janitorial supplies and equipment
  • Exercise knowledge and care in the use of cleaning materials for different types of surfaces.
  • Time management skills to allow for smooth and timely set-ups and cleaning
  • Aptitude to organize and prioritize tasks as assigned on a day-to-day basis.
  • Safe use of chemicals
Additional Requirement:
  • This person will often be the sole staff member in the building.
To the extent of his/her control, the individual will be responsible for the security, safety and well-being of the people, structure, and contents during working hours.
