The EVS Technician works under the supervision of leadership. Provides cleaning inpatient and non-patient areas, moves furniture, and performs a variety of miscellaneous responsibilities necessary to maintain a sanitary, safe, orderly and attractive environment. Communicates appropriately, speaks respectfully at all times with patients, families, visitors, physicians and staff, addressing them by name and responds to needs or requests for assistance promptly and courteously. Demonstrates proper hand hygiene and use of personal protective equipment (PPE), as well as knowledge and proper use of cleaning and disinfecting chemicals. Performs terminal cleaning of discharged patient rooms, following the appropriate cleaning checklist. Performs cleaning of public restrooms, common, and ancillary areas throughout the facility and replenishes housekeeping supplies as assigned. Demonstrates the ability to properly empty waste receptacles, change needle (sharps) containers, and transports regular and bio-hazard waste to appropriate destinations. Maintains hard surface and carpet floors using various equipment and machines. Assist in the clean-up of spills such as mercury, chemo, or formalin with appropriate spill kits. Maintains work area in a manner that is conducive to an orderly and efficient workflow, where distractions from personal belongings are minimized. Lifts and transports patient room furniture to designated areas. Performs cleaning of internal windows within height guidelines, vents, walls, and light fixtures, and changes cubicle curtains as needed. Other duties as assigned Education H.S. Diploma
