Lead Day Custodian SUMMARY:
Provides a safe, attractive, comfortable, and clean environment to ensure full and productive use of district facilities. Requires the ability and willingness to perform a variety of custodial functions under specific instructions with some need for individual judgement in working out problems. To accomplish these tasks, the Custodian must work closely with the staff and administration of the Pleasant Hill R-III School District.
Term of Employment:
Full-Time 250
Day Work Calendar Salary:
Starting salary is $15.10/hr plus $1.00/hour for Lead with possibility of increase based on experience Benefits offered include: Paid Time Off (PTO) and vacation; health, dental, and vision insurance; district paid HSA contribution; voluntary benefits; district sponsored life insurance; enrollment in 403b/457 retirement plans. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to understand chemical hazards.
  • Ability to work independently without supervision.
  • Desire to continue career improvement.
  • Ability to follow oral, visual, and written instruction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Requires physical ability to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
  • Requires stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning, reaching, climbing, and balancing.
  • Must work indoors and outdoors year-round.
  • Must work in noisy and crowded environments.
  • Must work in and around dust, fumes, and odors.
  • Open and close the building each day. Check to ensure all doors are open and panic bolts are working properly. Ensure that all doors and windows are secure and all appropriate lights turned off.
  • Raise and lower U.S. and MO flags each day, following proper flag protocol and orders issued by the Governor.
  • Complete list of daily / weekly / monthly custodial duties as assigned by Lead Custodian and/or Director of Facilities.
  • Report damaged school property to the Principal, Lead Custodian, and/or Director of Facilities.
  • Immediately report unauthorized persons in the building to the building Principal.
  • Move furniture or equipment, arrange rooms, and set-up for meetings / events.
  • Keep buildings and premises (including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, and play areas) neat and clean at all times.
  • Sweep, shovel, and sand all walkways as needed.
  • Ensure that all activities conform to district guidelines.
  • Adheres to all district health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Control Plan.
  • Communicates effectively with members of the school district and community.
  • Reacts to change productively and handles other tasks as assigned.
  • Appropriately operates and maintains all equipment and machinery as required.
  • Must have basic computer knowledge.
  • Stay knowledgeable of new information, innovative ideas, and techniques.
  • Must become familiar with departmental, district, and School Board Policies and demonstrate understanding.
  • Supports the value of education.
  • Supports the philosophy and mission of the Pleasant Hill R-III School District.
Equipment:
Computers, telecommunication equipment, floor buffers, scrubbing machines, vacuums (wet & dry), pressure washer, mowers & tractors, saws & drills, electrical testers and other equipment as instructed.
