Performance evaluated annually Position Summary The General Custodian ensures a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors across school facilities. This position plays a vital role in maintaining the standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and functionality in classrooms, offices, common areas, and exterior grounds. Key Responsibilities- Perform routine cleaning duties: sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and restroom sanitation
- Ensure building entrances, hallways, and classrooms are clean and orderly
- Monitor and replenish supplies (soap, paper towels, toilet tissue, etc.)
- Dispose of trash and recycling according to school policies
- Assist with setting up and breaking down rooms for events, meetings, or activities
- Respond promptly to custodial-related work orders or facility needs
- Report maintenance issues or safety hazards to the Facilities Director
- Support seasonal tasks such as snow removal, lawn care, or minor landscaping
- Secure buildings by locking doors and windows at designated times
- Follow all health, safety, and district regulations

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior custodial experience preferred, but not required
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment and tools safely and effectively
- Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and safe handling practices
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks on a regular basis
- Strong attention to detail and reliability
