Job Description

The Event Services Technician is a vital member of the Facilities Operations team. This person will work with the Event Services staff to set up and manage events on campus and to support other departments as needs arise.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform tasks as are common to Event Services, such as setting up spaces with tables, chairs, mobile stages, sound systems, etc. Ensure that Event Services equipment and inventory is operational by performing preventative maintenance and cleaning of equipment within reasonable capabilities. Perform all duties in a safe manner as is covered in employee safety training. Use of personal protective equipment in job functions is required. Assist other departments on campus with office and furniture moves and work orders. Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds. Contribute to the overall success of the campus by performing all other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:
Education:
A high school diploma or the equivalent is required.
Experience:
Sound system knowledge is preferred.
Availability:
This position requires that the employee be available for a flexible work schedule. Often events require evening and weekend work.
Skills:
The ability to read the English language sufficiently to understand written work orders and instructions; the ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with clients of events; the ability to follow instructions on event needs and then to bring those needs to reality; the ability to work independently and unsupervised.
Effort:
Requires the ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 40 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 75 pounds on an occasional basis, prolonged walking or standing, and frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, and reaching daily. Requires a full range of physical motion in order to perform all housekeeping duties. Employees in this job classification are designated as essential employees and must report to work as scheduled when University offices are closed due to severe weather.
