Job Description
Position Summary The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across the Shalom Park campus. This role supports daily operations by ensuring buildings, common areas, restrooms, offices, and event spaces are properly cleaned, sanitized, and maintained in accordance with safety, health, and organizational standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform routine cleaning of offices, classrooms, meeting rooms, restrooms, hallways, synagogues and common areas.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and sanitize surfaces according to established schedules.
- Clean and restock restrooms, including soap, paper products, and supplies.
- Empty trash and recycling receptacles and ensure proper disposal.
- Assist with setup and breakdown of rooms for meetings, programs, and events.
- Ensure event spaces are clean and ready before and after programs.
- Follow safety procedures and properly handle cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Identify and report maintenance or safety concerns to Facilities leadership.
- Perform periodic deep cleaning and support special projects as assigned. Required Qualifications
- Ability to perform physical labor including standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team. Preferred Qualifications
- Prior custodial, janitorial, or facilities experience.
- Experience working in schools, community centers, religious centers, or multi-use campuses.
