Join Bismarck State College's team as an Event Support Custodian and play a vital role in supporting campus events while helping maintain safe, clean, and inviting facilities for students, employees, and visitors. Position Summary The Event Support Custodian is responsible for completing event setups and performing custodial duties related to the cleaning, upkeep, and maintenance of campus buildings. This position provides on-site support during events, moves furniture and equipment as needed, delivers exceptional customer service, responds to event-related requests, and assists with a variety of custodial and facility support functions. Key Responsibilities Event Support & Setup Ensure event spaces are set up accurately, on time, and according to event specifications. Follow event layouts and floor plans and communicate setup expectations with team members. Provide on-site support during events and respond promptly to event-related needs and concerns. Maintain event equipment and inventory. Monitor and report equipment malfunctions or facility concerns. Assist with moving furniture, supplies, and equipment for events and facility operations. Custodial & Facility Maintenance Clean, sweep, scrub, and mop floors, hallways, stairways, and other assigned areas. Clean windows, walls, woodwork, furniture, fixtures, exhibit cases, and related furnishings. Service restrooms and lavatories, including sanitizing and polishing fixtures. Vacuum and shampoo carpets as needed. Collect and dispose of waste and recyclable materials. Perform minor building and equipment maintenance and repairs. Maintain basic records of cleaning and custodial activities. Safety & Security Lock and unlock buildings and rooms as assigned. Monitor facilities for security concerns, including lights left on and unsecured areas. Remove snow from sidewalks and entryways and help maintain safe outdoor conditions for events. Help ensure campus facilities remain clean, safe, and welcoming for all guests. Additional Responsibilities Wear college-provided uniforms while on duty. Support innovation and continuous improvement efforts within the department and college. Perform other duties as assigned. Schedule & Work Environment Schedule may include evenings and weekends based on campus events and operational needs. Hours and building assignments are determined by departmental and college needs and may be adjusted as necessary.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Requires a high school diploma or GED. Requires knowledge of the materials, equipment, and methods used in event set-ups and the cleaning and upkeep of buildings. Ability to perform cleaning work, including the operation of extractors, vacuums, and other custodial equipment. Basic computer software skills - Microsoft Office Suite-Word, Excel, etc., Outlook E-mail and Calendar. Customer-service mindset when interacting with event guests. Ability to follow communicated instructions and to work independently after receiving instructions. Ability to work well with co-workers. Must have a current, valid driver's license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
One year of custodial experience.
