JOB DESCRIPTION
Performs maintenance and cleaning of Marston, handles recycling and other utility work as needed.
ACCOUNTABILITY
Reports to the Buildings and Grounds Director.
EQUIPMENT USED
Hand and small power tools; hand and power cleaning equipment; test meters and gauges; alarm system; HVAC equipment; telephone.

25% DUTIES
DAILY:
6:00 a.m. Unlock and light up Marston and put out the flag Sweep, clean, and pick up trash in offices. Wash and disinfect bathrooms Vacuum entrance rugs. Clean the hallway and sweep the stairs 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. (Tuesday and Thursday) Pick up all recyclables at Marston and BES
  • Tuesday and Thursday. 9:00 a.m.
  • Break 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) 8:05 a.m. Lock Ramp Door Continue cleaning: Marston Building as necessary BES Sweep stairwells and pick up Recyclables Sweep and vacuum the teacher's Room, also pick up garbage and Recycling Assist the Director and other day custodians with projects as needed 9:30 a.m.

Shovel snow and sand as necessary, all Marston entrances and Willard St. bus stop. Shovel and sand as necessary, all Hillside entrances.
ALL OTHER APPROPRIATE REQUESTS AS NEEDED AND MADE BY STAFF, ADMINISTRATION, AND CUSTODIAL FOREMAN.

EDUCATION/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Asbestos Awareness Certificate, preferred.
OTHER TRAINING, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
HS diploma or GED, preferred. One year of custodial and maintenance experience. Familiarity with and ability to effectively use hand and power equipment and tools. Experience with maintaining electrical, plumbing, and HVAC equipment in industrial/commercial buildings. Ability to work in environments with different needs, and understand and follow orders. Or, any combination of education and experience that demonstrates a knowledge of the tasks and functions of the job. Must possess a commercial driver's license CDL-B minimum.
SUMMARY OF OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURES
Floor and bathroom cleaners, cleaning agents and solvents, heating fuels. Incumbents may be exposed to extremes of heat, cold, and wet weather. May be exposed to bodily fluids, such as blood, urine, feces, and vomit.
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Must be physically able, as the job includes lifting and stair climbing. An employee must be able to perform various tasks required to maintain school buildings. Employee follows a written or verbal work schedule and typically works at his/her own pace. A job often entails routine, repetitive tasks that, once learned, can be performed under general supervision. Work may be checked by senior department personnel to ensure accuracy and completeness of assignments. Applicants will be subjected to a criminal background check required by state law. The incumbent has no authority for disciplining students during school hours.
