To Be Determined Job Description Lisbon Regional School District is seeking a year round full time custodian to work evenings during the school year and to work daytime hours during school vacations and the summer. Candidates should be dependable, motivated, and possess good work ethics. Prior custodial experience is preferred and school related experience a plus. Responsible for maintaining an attractive, sanitary and safe facility for students, staff and public; providing equipment and furniture arrangements for meetings, classroom activities, and vents; performing minor repairs and preventative maintenance; and minimizing property damage, loss and liability exposure. Position Duties and Responsibilities Except as specifically noted, the following functions are considered essential to this position: Works with the building principal in developing, establishing and maintaining an appropriate plan of housekeeping. Cleans the school (e.g. classrooms, offices, restrooms, lunch room, halls, carpet, windows, walls, stage, locker rooms, sidewalks, grounds etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary, safe and attractive school environment. Removes graffiti after reporting it to the building principal. Work with the staff and the administration to make the building conducive to good instruction and morale. Over see the efficient use and proper care of tools, equipment and supplies. Cooperates with appropriate authorities to conform with rules and regulations for the safety and health of the staff and the student body. Provides general supervision of the physical facilities (to include care, operation, and maintenance) and reports any major issues to the building Principal when it comes to the following systems: heating, sanitation issues, parking lots/walkways, ventilation, electrical/lighting, plumbing, and play/ building grounds. Assists the building principal in the preparation and implementation of the custodial/maintenance budget which allows for custodial activities to be successfully carried out. Prepare tentative budget estimates for custodial and maintenance activities (including supplies, tools, and equipment). Submit bills for approval by the building Principal pertaining to custodial and maintenance activities. Maintain a record of preventative maintenance on equipment and what it would cost to replace pieces of equipment. Be prepared to present budget recommendation for the next school year in the early fall. Assume responsibilities for minor construction and repairs. Maintain appropriate records with plans for any alterations or additions/repairs. Advise the building Principal as to cost or minor construction and repairs. Prepares plans for minor construction and/or repairs to be performed by custodial/maintenance personnel, consulting with outside experts if necessary. Assists the building Principal in the preparation of studies or bidding on needed repairs and/or renovations or new construction to the building or grounds. Promote good public relations between the school and community. Take pride in presenting buildings and grounds in a way which is exemplary. Reflect a positive and helpful attitude when interacting with staff, students, parents, and community members. Refer public inquires to the appropriate channels. Share public comments and criticisms when it comes to the building directly with the building Principal. Secures facilities and grounds (depending on shift) (e.g. locks doors, turn off lights, sets alarms, etc.) for the purpose of minimizing property damage, equipment loss and over all safety. Tend to custodial tasks, on an as needed basis, which would otherwise pose a safety or health hazard to members of the school community (e.g. shovel/salt/sand steps, walkways, driveways and parking areas, or unsafe playground equipment). Inspect and maintain all safety systems (i.e., fire alarm systems) and relevant equipment. Responds to immediate safety and/or operational concerns (e.g. facility damage, alarms, etc.) for the purpose of taking appropriate action to resolve immediate safety issues and maintaining functioning educational environment. Maintain safety procedures which adhere to local, state, and federal requirements. Establish and maintain an adequate plan of operation. Advise the building principal of upcoming maintenance needs for the building. Provide storage for all necessary provisions. Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment. Maintain appropriate record-keeping for the operation of the facility. Participates in custodial and maintenance services, including tasks requiring light and heavy labor (i.e., lifting). Schedule repairs and alterations on basis of need. Follows all federal, state, and SAU policies, laws, and procedures that pertain to the work place.
