Job Description
Job Summary:
Durgin and Crowell Lumber Co., Inc. is seeking a dependable and hardworking Industrial Cleaner to support after-hours cleaning operations. This is a full-time position working Monday through Friday beginning at 3 or 3:30 PM. The Industrial Cleaner plays an important role in maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient work environment to ensure the facility is prepared for daily startup operations. Essential Responsibilities Perform general cleaning throughout the sawmill, Planer Mill, and other facilities after production hours Remove broken boards, sawdust, wood debris, and more from production and work areas Sweep, shovel, and collect wood waste and other materials to maintain cleanliness and safety standards Keep walkways, equipment areas, and workspaces clear of debris and potential hazards Operate equipment such as skid steers, loaders, and other machinery as needed to assist with cleanup and material handling Support overall facility housekeeping and operational readiness for the next business day Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications, Skills, Abilities:
Valid driver's license required Ability to safely operate equipment such as skid steers, loaders, and related machinery Ability to safely and effectively use hand tools such as shovels and brooms, as well as power tools, including blow guns Ability to perform physically demanding work, including sweeping, shoveling, bending, lifting, and carrying wood debris and materials Maintain a professional attitude and work effectively with coworkers and supervisors Ability to work independently with minimal supervision or collaboratively as part of a team Commitment to promoting a safe work environment and following all workplace safety policies and procedures Strong work ethic, dependable attendance, and attention to detail Demonstrated good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills Reliable, punctual, and attentive to assigned tasks and responsibilities Ability to work in a sawmill environment with exposure to wood dust, noise, varying temperatures, and heavy equipment
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) - is preferred not required Physical Requirements Ability to frequently bend, squat, kneel, and climb stairs throughout the work shift Ability to occasionally lift, carry, pull, and push up to 50 pounds Ability to perform continuous walking and standing in an industrial environment Ability to climb ladders and work at heights while following all company safety procedures Comfortable working around industrial equipment in elevated work areas Ability to occasionally reach and lift materials above shoulder level Ability to work in a physically demanding sawmill environment with exposure to wood dust, noise, and varying temperatures Work Environment Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions Position may require walking on slippery, uneven, or unstable surfaces at times Hearing protection and other required personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn in designated operational areas Exposure to wood dust, moving equipment, and industrial noise is expected Durgin and Crowell Lumber Co., Inc. maintains a non-smoking workplace except in designated smoking areas
