Job Description

General Summary The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment throughout the House. This position performs routine cleaning, maintenance, and sanitation duties to ensure buildings, grounds, and common areas meet established cleanliness and safety standards. The Custodian supports the daily operations of the organization by providing a professional and welcoming environment for residents, employees and visitors. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Clean and sanitize offices, restrooms, hallways, stairwells, breakrooms, refuse area, and common areas. Sweeps, mops, vacuums, and waxes floors and surfaces. Empties trash and recycling receptacles and dispose of waste properly. Clean windows, mirrors, furniture, fixtures, and equipment. Replenishes restroom and janitorial supplies, including soap, paper towels, and toilet paper. Performs routine inspections to identify maintenance or safety concerns and report issues promptly. Operates and maintains custodial equipment such as vacuums, floor scrubbers, buffers, and carpet cleaners. Assists with room setup and breakdown for meetings, events, and special activities. Follows established cleaning schedules and procedures. Maintains inventory of cleaning supplies and notify supervisors when replenishment is needed. Adheres to all safety regulations, policies, and procedures, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals. Assists with snow removal, grounds maintenance, or minor repairs as assigned. Performs other work duties as assigned. Qualifications Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous custodial, janitorial, or facility maintenance experience preferred but not required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good organizational and time management skills. Ability to maintain professional and courteous interactions with residents, employees, guests and visitors. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, stoop, kneel, and climb for extended periods. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds. Ability to operate cleaning equipment and tools safely. Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including exposure to cleaning chemicals. Working Conditions Work is performed indoors and outdoors as needed. May require evening, weekend, holiday, or shift work. Exposure to cleaning agents, dust, noise, and other facility-related conditions.
Pay:
$18.00 - $20.00 per hour
