This work involves the responsibility for the performance of routine cleaning duties in public and municipal buildings and facilities. Performs a variety of building maintenance and cleaning tasks, including sweeping and mopping floors, waxing and buffing floors, vacuuming rugs, dusting furniture, washing walls and windows, and cleaning elevators and stairwells.

Typical Work Activities:

Performs specialized cleaning tasks varying with the district's needs. Replenishes toilet supplies such as tissue and soap. Empties wastebasket and collects and disposes of trash. Clear snow, ice, sand, and salt sidewalks Performs a variety of odd jobs, such as delivering messages, calling tradespeople to repair equipment, erecting directional barriers, and performing other skilled tasks. Civil Service Title Custodian Job Qualifications Physical ability to lift heavy objects (50lbs) and condition to commensurate with the demands of the position Working knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and supplies used in the cleaning and maintenance of buildings, furniture, and facilities. Ability to get along with others. Ability to follow simple oral and written directions. High School Diploma or GED preferred.
