SUPERVISOR

JOB DESCRIPTIONS / DUTIES
Starting minimum salary $65,000 (commensurate with experience) - This is a supervisory position involving responsibility for the efficient and economical cleaning of (9) District Buildings, including exterior facilities. The work is performed under general supervision allowing wide leeway for the exercise of independent judgment in keeping buildings and facilities up to approved standards of cleanliness and operational readiness. Immediate supervision is exercised over the work of a large number of subordinate custodial personnel.
Typical work activities include:
Makes routine inspections of each building during first and second shifts to maintain proper cleaning procedures and cleanliness standards; Checks all buildings to ensure that they are heated, cleaned, locked, or in readiness condition for all activities; Schedules and assigns custodial staff to the various buildings; Authorizes and tracks leave time and arranges for substitute cleaners as required; Trains subordinate staff in cleaning procedures, cleaning equipment operation, and minor repairs; Reports the needs for any major repairs to the Superintendent of Buildings & Grounds, Prepares specifications, procures, and tracks custodial supplies and related equipment, Manages requests for custodial supplies and arranges delivery from warehouse stock or vendors; Maintains records and generates periodic reports on building cleanliness and operations; Coordinates and ensures that events are setup and staffed; Supports the district Green Team, Conducts monthly walkthroughs-meetings with building principals/administrators; Coordinates and records pest management; Coordinates removal and disposal of district trash, regulated waste, recycling, and universal waste disposal; Manages and maintains records of required training and certifications for subordinates; Coordinates and procures department uniforms; Oversees swimming pool operations and manages permits. Job Qualifications
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Thorough knowledge of building and cleaning practices, supplies, and equipment; Working knowledge of the operation of heating systems, Ability to plan and supervise the work of a large number of custodial employees; Ability to get along well with others; Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions; Ability to generate reports; Initiative; Thoroughness; Dependability; Sound judgment; Attention to detail. Ability to operate a personal computer and utilize common office software programs including word processing, spreadsheet and databases at an acceptable rate of accuracy and speed; Ability to make arithmetic computations involving fractions, decimals and percentage accurately; ability to analyze and organize data and prepare records and reports; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
PROMOTIONAL
Twenty-four (24) months as a Head Custodian; OR Forty-eight (48) months as a Custodian.
OPEN COMPETITIVE
Graduation from High School, or possession of a High School equivalency diploma, and five (5) years of responsible experience in building cleaning or maintenance work, of which two (2) years were in a supervisory capacity; OR, seven (7) years of responsible experience in building cleaning, custodial or maintenance work, of which two (2) years were in a supervisory capacity.
