Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dependable, proactive, and detail-oriented Janitor to join our facilities maintenance team. In this essential role, you will help maintain a clean, safe, organized, and welcoming environment throughout the day by providing ongoing cleaning support and responding to facility needs as they arise. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, demonstrates excellent customer service, and can work independently while maintaining high standards of cleanliness in both indoor and outdoor spaces. Responsibilities Monitor and maintain restroom cleanliness throughout assigned porter hours, including cleaning surfaces and restocking paper products, soap, and other supplies. Empty trash and recycling receptacles as needed and replace liners to maintain a clean and sanitary environment. Respond promptly to spills, messes, and cleaning emergencies, including food and beverage spills, art supplies, and water-related activity areas. Reset and clean lunch areas between scheduled use periods to ensure readiness for the next group. Prepare and restore pavilion and activity spaces between programs, events, or scheduled activities. Clean and disinfect tables, chairs, and other furniture throughout the day, ensuring all areas remain presentable and ready for use. Perform spot cleaning, sweeping, and floor maintenance as needed to address dirt, debris, and high-traffic areas. Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of building entrances, walkways, and designated outdoor program areas. Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or supply shortages to management in a timely manner. Follow established safety procedures and cleaning protocols to ensure a healthy environment for staff, visitors, and program participants. Requirements Previous janitorial, porter, custodial, or general cleaning experience preferred. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean and professional environment. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple tasks throughout the day. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Ability to respond quickly and effectively to unexpected cleaning needs and facility requests. Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform repetitive cleaning tasks throughout the workday. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Strong communication skills and a positive, service-oriented attitude. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in schools, community centers, recreational facilities, childcare environments, or other high-traffic public facilities. Knowledge of proper cleaning chemicals, equipment, and safety procedures. Ability to identify and report minor maintenance issues. $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
