Position Title:
Custodian Extraordinaire Reports to:
Lead Custodian/Custodial Grounds Manager Job Goal:
To uphold the Mission Statement of the Findlay City Schools and Department.
Evaluation:
Annually in accordance with Board's policy.
Terms of Employment:
Two hundred sixty (260) days. Salary per Board approved contract.
Education and Training:
1. High School diploma or GED equivalent. 2. Such alternatives to the above Education and Training as the Board may find appropriate and public sector acceptable. Qualifications 1. Ability to perform the essential physical job functions/responsibilities of the position. 2. Must have a working knowledge of the custodial industry and a willingness to be trained in any category where additional instruction may be needed. 3. Must display the needed initiative to work independently or work as a team member when required. 4. Must be able to effectively interpret and relay information through both verbal and written means of communications.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Police public areas inside and out as required. 2. Dust mopping, sweeping, wet mopping, stripping, refinish, and spray buff floors, using appropriate equipment. 3. Vacuum rugs and carpet including carpet shampooing. 4. Scrub, clean, and disinfect restrooms meeting cleaning standards, stocking them with towels, soap, toilet paper, feminine products, and miscellaneous items as required. 5. Dust and clean walls, doors, windows, woodwork, vents and other above-floor surfaces. 6. Vacuuming furniture and drapes as needed. 7. Dust, clean, and polish furniture. 8. Window washing. 9. Clean desks and chalkboards. 10. Notify the Lead Custodian or the Facilities Director of equipment and facilities needing repair or replacement. 11. Replace accessible lights, washing light fixtures as needed. 12. Remove trash and cleaning of trash receptacles. 13. Provide snow removal as required, reporting all unsafe conditions to management. 14. Grounds care includes trash removal, some mowing and trimming of areas. 15. Set-ups and moving furniture as required. 16. Regulates heat, ventilation and air conditioning systems. 17. Checks security of building - locking and unlocking doors, closing windows, turning all lights off, etc. 18. Raises and lowers U. S. flags as required. 19. Conducts on-going program of general maintenance, making minor repairs as needed, reporting major repairs as needed to management. 20. Remains on the premises as needed by the principal during school hours and non-school hours when the building has been authorized for use, with approval of the Lead Custodian, or other authorized Administrators. 21. Perform all other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
