Description:

Provide temporary summer maintenance and custodial support throughout the district. Assist with building maintenance, cleaning, groundskeeping, repairs, and summer operational needs to ensure safe, clean, and functional school facilities.

NOTE:

Essential Functions:

Ensure safety of students, staff, and facilities Perform general custodial and maintenance duties as assigned Assist with minor repairs, maintenance, and building upkeep Perform summer cleaning projects and building preparation Perform landscaping, mowing, grounds maintenance, and field preparation Remove trash and maintain clean work areas Assist with moving furniture, equipment, and supplies Operate and maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles safely Respond to service calls and building needs as directed Assist in maintaining district buildings, grounds, and equipment Follow district maintenance procedures and safety practices Work cooperatively with staff and administration Maintain inventory and proper use of tools and supplies Support building security and safety procedures Complete required paperwork and documentation Perform other duties assigned by the Superintendent or designee

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ability to operate various equipment associated with duties
• Receive freight from carriers and check shipments against purchase orders
• Perform other duties as assigned

About You:

• High school diploma
• Mechanical and carpentry skills
• Current State of Ohio driver's license
• Clean FBI and BCI reports
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriate

Elementary School students in the GHCS also participate in such valuable literacy programs as LETRs and social/emotional initiatives as the Zones of Regulation. The GHCS places a great deal of emphasis at all levels of education on Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (P.B.I.S.) and each school has won awards from the State of Ohio for encouraging and promoting positive behavior. A wide variety of co-curricular offerings are available to students of all ages in the Garfield Heights City Schools as well. Such opportunities include more than 18 varsity sports, the district's show choir, Music Express, Marching Band, Theater, A 'Capella Choir, National Honor Society, Student Council, Glass Ceiling, Future Engineers, and more. These co-curricular offerings are award-winning on the state, regional and local levels. Students can expect success when they become involved in the various academic, co-curricular, and student leadership organizations in this District.
