PURPOSE:
1.Conduct a program of custodial service to provide clean conditions throughout the area to which is assigned. 2.Conduct activities to be compatible with the schedules of the academic curriculum. 3.Perform minor non-technical maintenance repairs as time and conditions permit.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1.The ability and desire to perform the duties assigned. 2.Be punctual and enthusiastic about work. 3.The desire to work cooperatively with other employees. 4.Respect for the value and security of the school property and furnishings. 5.High moral character. 6.Physical endurance to cover large areas. 7.Keen eye for detail and diligence.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following essential functions represent the fundamental job duties of the employment position. If, through reasonable accommodation, a disabled person can substantially perform the essential functions of the job, such accommodation may be made. 1.Inspect the area to which assigned at the start of each day's work. 2.Open, unlock, or remove security devices from all entrances and exits before any personnel occupy the building or area, and keep all entrances and exits clear and unlocked while the building is occupied. 3.Assure adequate lighting is used at all entrances and exits and passageways and that "exit" signs are lighted during the time the building is occupied. 4.Assist in clearing the building of any unauthorized persons after school classes or other activities have ended, and further shall not permit any unauthorized persons to enter at any time the building is not open for occupancy. 5.Report any irregularities in the condition of buildings or their facilities or any acts of violence, vandalism, damage, or acts of disgrace or disrespect to the Director of Support Services and the respective building principal as soon as any such observations are made. 6.Be responsive to comments or suggestions from the principal in charge of the building or area served. 7.Be available and offer assistance to maintenance personnel while they are performing services within the area. 8.Accept alternative areas of assignment when deemed necessary by the Director of Support Services and follow the schedule of services required in such alternate areas. 9.Assist in establishing or changing the schedule of services required in the respective area of assignment. 10.Maintain clean floors, steps, and hallways-swept or mopped as needed (minimum once daily)
  • scrubbed and rinsed at least once each week
  • stripped and waxed twice each year. 11.Maintain clean walls and doors
  • wash finger marks and smudges as needed (daily if necessary) scrubbed down once each year. 12.Maintain clean windows, other glass, and light fixtures (wash weekly if necessary). 13.Maintain the clean, respectable appearance of outside areas
  • sweep walkways, keep lawns clean of trash and paper, shovel snow, mow grass, keep exterior of buildings clean (daily if necessary). 14.Replace light bulbs as needed
  • indoors and outdoors.
15.Check to ensure proper operation of door latches, hinges, closers, or panic exit devices. Adjust or tighten when needed. 16.Inspect fire prevention equipment periodically (minimum once each month). Observe tampering, date or recharge, missing items, obstructions to access, and general condition. 17.Maintain clean and sanitary restrooms, inspect at least four times daily. Flush commodes when left, sweep floors, and empty trash receptacles as needed. Clean all fixtures. Scrub, rinse, and spray disinfectant on floors at least once each day (more frequently as conditions require). 18.Empty trash receptacles in classrooms and hallways at least once daily. 19.Report date and duration of absenteeism as much in advance as possible. 20.Forward all reports of approved overtime or absenteeism to the Director of Support Services within two days of the time normal work status is resumed. 21.Avoid working in any classroom when it might interfere with studies or any hall or passageway during students' class changes or any other time of heavy student traffic. 22.Observe proper and adequate safety precautions while performing custodial duties, specifically when operating or handling equipment or dangerous commodities. 23.Complete daily duty checklist. 24.Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Support Services.
