Required Education and Experience :
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent. Must be 18 years of age or older. Six (6) months or more experience as a custodian with an industrial, janitorial firm, or commercial business and thorough knowledge of custodial materials and methods.
Additional Eligibility Requirements :
Knowledge of cleaning methods, procedures, equipment, and supplies used in custodial maintenance. Ability to meet physical requirements of the position. Ability to adjust to priority work changes. Ability to conform with all safety rules and performs work in a safe manner. Ability to operate modern office equipment including computer equipment, and specialized software applications programs effectively and efficiently. Ability to use tact, initiative, prudence, and independent judgment within general policy, procedural, and legal guidelines. Ability to demonstrate excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to establish, maintain, and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Ability to obtain and maintain Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) clearance upon hire. Possess a valid driver's license by date of hire. New employees establishing resident status in the State of Oregon must obtain an Oregon driver's license within 30 days (ORS 807.020 (1)). Maintain an acceptable driving record throughout employment. Successfully complete a background investigation to the satisfaction of the City.

- O ccasionally, you may be required to work on a holiday if it falls on your regular workday.
- The a nticipated hiring range for the Custodian position is $20.
70 (first step) to $21.74 or $22.82 (second or third step). The City of Medford determines starting pay based on an evaluation of relevant education, experience, and qualifications as provided by the applicant in their application materials, alongside others who perform work of comparable character consistent with the Oregon Equal Pay Act. Six steps are included in this salary range, allowing opportunity for annual movement through the steps.

Position:
Cleans, sanitizes, and disinfects restrooms, break rooms and all public spaces. Stock custodial closets with appropriate supplies. Sweeps, vacuums, and mops (wet and dry) a variety of flooring materials Dusts furniture, woodwork, fixtures, and equipment. Washes windows, mirrors and walls, tables, and chairs. Empties and disposes of collected waste, recycled goods and other materials. Adheres to safety practices and standards when performing all duties. May be required to travel between different work locations based on operational need.
