Full Job Description Position Description:
As a member of the pastoral staff of WHCC, the Campus Custodian's ministry is to ensure the cleanliness and good working order of the WHCC Campus overseeing all building repairs, maintenance, groundskeeping, and all janitorial needs for West Hills Community Church ministry activities. This position serves as the primary custodian, supervises janitorial staff, and serves as chair the Facilities Commission which provides dedicated volunteers for campus facility work. Utilizing the janitorial staff and church volunteers, this position supervises, coordinates and shares in all janitorial, building maintenance, groundskeeping, and repair needs to include ministry event setup and recovery. Building Repairs & Maintenance Maintaining operating records and logs on air-conditioning and heating equipment. Operating heating and ventilation system and related mechanical equipment; troubleshooting problems; servicing and maintaining equipment; coordinating with contractors and service vendors as appropriate. Inspecting buildings and grounds to determine maintenance and custodial needs; inspecting buildings for fire, sanitary, and safety hazards; making corrections or reporting deficiencies to ensure compliance with appropriate state agencies. Conferring with Church and School officials regarding current and future custodial and groundskeeping activities. Performing minor maintenance work on school buildings using plumbing, carpentry, and electrical tools. Management & Supervision Receives requests for services and repairs; assigns duties to designated volunteers; meeting with building staff to adjust work schedules as needed and to arrange special event set-ups including setup and recovery. Create and maintain a "Work Order" system for identifying and prioritizing facility issues for the church and Riviera Christian School and Daycare. The system will include a request form utilized by church, school, and daycare staff or volunteers to be approved by a supervising individual and include a system for notification of approved work order requests and approximate material costs and estimated time for completion. Manage, coordinate and supervise part-time janitor and volunteers positions to carry out facilities and groundskeeping projects. Inspecting completed work to assure that work is done in accordance with instructions. Creates, utilizes, and works within the approved annual budget's designated funds for Care of God's Property. Works with Church Administrator to maintain and administer building keys and alarm codes access for appropriate staff and volunteers. Janitorial Coordinate routine maintenance and cleaning around church and school activities. Coordinate purchasing and inventory of janitorial supplies and maintenance of cleaning equipment and tools. Performing cleaning tasks and provide assistance and training as needed to assigned janitorial personnel regarding cleaning methods and procedures. Ordering, receiving, storing, issuing, and accounting for necessary supplies and equipment. Adhere to all appropriate state regulations and maintain documentation for Statewide Pesticide Plan, Materials Safety Data Sheets and protocols for blood borne pathogens and other biohazards. Events Management & Setup Coordinate event setup and janitorial services for church events in cooperation with Church Administrator; including but not limited to All Church events, Memorial Services and ministry events. Coordinate monthly "Saturday Servants" events and generic workday events for church grounds and building projects. Groundskeeping & Landscaping Coordinate routine mowing and landscaping care of church property and parsonage property. Oversee maintenance and repair of church tractor and landscaping equipment. Ensure routine inspection and maintenance of sprinkler, hydrant and backflow systems. Preferred Qualifications A minimum of five years' experience in related fields. Veterans are encouraged to apply. Eligibility Requirements Must meet the qualifications for a Deacon as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:8-14. Must be a member in good standing at West Hills Community Church . If not a member, applicant must be eligible for membership and become a member within the first 90 days. Pass background check Position Requirements Must be able to work with a high degree of autonomy and flexibility, while maintaining position standards. Ability to instruct and train others in custodial work Maintain records and make reports as required. Use tools and equipment necessary for the performance of semi-skilled building maintenance tasks. Perform heavy physical labor. Basic working knowledge of plumbing, HVAC and basic carpentry. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Read and respond to email communications. Maintain written and oral communication with staff Maintaining regular and consistent attendance and punctuality. Performing related duties consistent with job description and assignment. Physical Requirements This work is done in a school and church building environment, and may include solvent or cleaning smells, and human body waste cleanup. Must be able to work on feet all day, with bending, lifting, standing, twisting, walking, kneeling, and climbing ladders. Must be able to lift up to 100 pound load on occasion, and 50 pound loads repeatedly throughout the day. Safety equipment is available to be used.

From $25.00 per hour
