Job Description

Position Goal:
To maintain the building and provide students with a clean, safe, attractive, comfortable, and efficient environment conducive to learning. Provides supervision to the evening cleaning crew at Crooked Billet Elementary School.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervises the evening cleaning crew at the respective school to which assigned. Sets up for evening activities. Coordinates with various groups to make sure all events run smoothly. Keeps school building and grounds, including sidewalks, driveways, playgrounds, clean and safe at all times. Daily cleaning of corridors with dry mop, wet mop as needed. Daily cleaning of classrooms includes vacuuming carpets or dry/wet mopping floors, cleaning chalkboard and desks, and emptying trash cans. Daily cleaning of lavatories, including wet mopping floors, cleaning toilets and sinks, checking/refilling paper towels, toilet paper, and soap, and emptying the trash. Daily cleaning of offices, locker facilities, boiler rooms, cafeteria, kitchen, and all other areas of the building as assigned by the Building Principal/Administrator and/or Facilities Coordinator. Daily cleaning of faculty lounge, including dry/wet mopping, emptying trash cans, cleaning sinks and tables, cleaning coffee pots, and cleaning the coffee machine. Clean glass doors. Acts as Facilities Coordinator in his/her absence as directed by the Building Principal/Administrator and/or Facilities Coordinator. Ensures that after all persons have left the building, all doors and windows are closed and locked for the security of the building. Moves furniture, equipment, and supplies into, out of, or within the building to meet the needs of the students' education. Perform the restoration and maintenance of all floor surfaces, i.e., vacuuming, dry/wet mopping, stripping, waxing, and buffing floors Clean filters, as needed. Clean up spills and/or accidents caused by students, teachers, and/or other building staff. Replace burned out light bulbs in a timely manner. Polices exterior of building and grounds and cleans up vandalism/graffiti, as needed. Assists food service staff with moving large and/or heavy supplies and/or equipment, as requested. Maintains custodial closets in a clean, orderly, and safe condition always. Responsible for summer cleaning, running the summer help staff, and reporting any issues to the facility coordinator Responsible for locking all the doors and windows, conduct a security walk around of the building, and responsible for setting the building alarm system Respond to any overnight alarm calls if needed and report any issues to the facility coordinator and/or the operations manager.
Position Specifications:
Work Year:
Full-time position - 12 months, 261 days, 8 hours each day. Within the 8.5-hour schedule, 30 minutes will be unpaid for lunch giving a total of 8.0 hours paid daily.
Educational Level:
No educational prerequisite although a High School diploma is preferable.
Physical Demands:
Active movement on a regular basis Must be able to use hands, to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Occasional heavy lifting - up to 100 pounds Frequent carrying - up to 30 pounds Ability to bend, stoop, and twist Ability to climb, kneel, and squat
Sensory Abilities:
Visual acuity to be able to see when areas are clean Ability to detect the smell of hazardous odors Depth perception to be able to judge distance from objects Ability to see or hear fire alarm signal

Ability to perform routine tasks repeatedly to the satisfaction of immediate supervisor Ability to work as a member of a team Must be courteous and able to deal effectively with public who use the facility Must be cooperative, congenial, and service-oriented
Cognitive Ability:
Ability to read, write and do simple computation. Ability to communicate effectively with others. Ability to follow written and verbal directions. Ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
