Job Summary/Basic Function About the position:
Performs a variety of tasks related to the general and detailed cleaning/sanitation of various campus buildings such as classrooms, labs, auditoriums, administrative and faculty offices, residential housing areas, athletic venues, gathering spaces, windows, entrance ways, dining service areas, support areas, hallways & exterior areas. Work involves the use of custodial supplies and cleaning equipment and may involve the moving and lifting of heavy furniture. Work is performed in accordance with a well-established routine and is subject to inspection during progress or upon completion for attainment of established standards of cleanliness.

Duties and Responsibilities The primary tasks below are intended to describe the general content of and requirements of this position and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties. Individual may perform all or some of the primary tasks listed below.
Clean and sanitize bathrooms, lobbies, corridors, recreation areas, laundry rooms, kitchens, elevators, stairwells, and study rooms, restrooms, locker rooms drinking fountains/bottle fillers, and all touch surfaces in buildings.
Perform all aspects of floor care to include sweep, mop, strip, seal, wax, extract, burnish vacuum, scrub, etc.
Empty, clean and sanitize waste and recycling receptacles. Sort and transport materials to designated locations.
Dust (high and low); clean entrances, glass and windows, scrub and wash walls and blinds.
Wash boards and clean trays in classroom. Reconfigure desks, tables, and chairs.
Move and arrange furniture, chairs, tables, stage platforms and equipment for various events.
Maintain entryways in a clean, presentable manner. Shovel snow, sweep and clean walks, and assist in keeping immediate outside premises and building entrances in an orderly condition.
Make minor maintenance repairs. Keep custodial and mechanical rooms clean, organized and properly stocked. Check and clean equipment and tools of trade.
Clean light fixtures, replace bulbs, replace clock batteries, and clean HVAC vents.
Identify supplies for reordering monthly. Avoid excessive stockpiles.
Inspect areas for cleanliness, facility deficiencies or mechanical failures, and other inappropriate conditions. Submit work orders for deficient/defective items.
Professionally and thoroughly addresses customer complaints.
Coordinate all work with building occupants or others as required.
Perform manual snow removal using hand tools, e.g. shovels, ice chippers, etc., when needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Safety:
Work safely by using Personal Protective Equipment, maintaining equipment, following safety procedures and policies, etc.
Complete required safety training. Stay current on safety measures for trade.
Identify and report safety issues related to equipment, actions, or processes.
Immediately report accidents and incidents to include near misses.
If injured during work, report incident to your supervisor and complete the accident form.
Review SDS for chemicals related to the department.
Leave work area clean and orderly at the end of shift and/or job
Resolve pending hazards in a timely fashion.
Cooperate with safety investigations and audits.
Required Qualifications Ability to read and understand written directives, instructions, procedural manuals, warning and special handling labels and safety precautions

Preferred Qualifications Related experience.
Knowledge of the materials, methods, equipment, and practices used in related custodial operations such as floor care, restroom service, trash and recycling collection and disposal, laundry distribution, window washing and glass care, snow removal, event set ups, dusting, mopping, vector control, etc.
Knowledge of safe, aseptic cleaning, sanitation, and custodial quality assurance procedures.
Knowledge of the operation, use and care of vacuum cleaners, scrubbing machines, polishing machines, and other cleaning equipment.
