Job Description
Porters are responsible for providing efficient, quality service to the Museum's guests and staff. Porters monitor and ensure the clean appearance and sanitization of the Museum including but not limited to the galleries, restrooms, back-of-house, offices, outside grounds, and parking lot. Porters must maintain a clean and safe environment at a level that promotes high guest satisfaction. This position reports to the Manager, Custodial Services.
Anticipated Schedule:
8:30am - 5:00pm; Friday -Tuesday Pay:
$17.51/Hour This position is part of the AFSCME Local 397 bargaining unit.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitor and maintain the cleanliness of restrooms and all public areas. Perform scheduled maintenance checks. Perform scheduled cleaning and detailing assignments. Respond to service calls in a timely and efficient manner. Maintain proper inventory levels at supply stations. Remove debris, and trash from inside and outside receptacles and areas. Set up for in-house daytime and night-time events. Must be able to use disinfecting equipment. Must be able to handle time-sensitive assignments. Monitor waste levels of all receptacles and dispose of waste, as required. Use only approved chemical and cleaning materials. Safely store and secure chemicals and cleaning materials when not in use. Ensure that Museum rules, safety standards, and sanitation requirements are followed. Assist with set ups and breakdowns. Maintain an understanding of the Museum's emergency action plans. Shows respect for co-workers and visitors and an understanding of and appreciation for the diversity of the Museum's staff, visitors, and community.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED required. 2-4 years experience in custodial/janitorial work preferably in a commercial building Availability to work on weekends, evenings, and holidays in addition to weekdays. Must be willing to learn maintenance and disinfecting techniques. Demonstrates a professional attitude. Able to work well in a team environment. Handles customer questions and complaints with professionalism. Ability to take direction. Excellent customer service skills. Demonstrates ability to work independently and respond quickly to situations. Available to work weekends, evenings, extended hours if needed. Ability to embrace and demonstrate the Museum's Mission, Values, and DEIBA Commitment. Must have PA Act 153 clearances (PA criminal history, FBI fingerprints, and PA Child Abuse) completed prior to hire. All employees are required to have the flu vaccination as a term and condition of employment.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & ENVIRONMENT

Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, i.e., pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, squatting, kneeling, standing, and climbing. Ability to walk up and down flights of stairs; and stand for periods of time every day. Ability to focus on assigned tasks where activity and interruptions are constant and demanding. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate but ongoing, noise level may be overstimulating at times. The individual performing this job must be comfortable in an environment where people are coming and going regularly. Occasionally exposed to outdoor conditions. The worker is subject to hazards: chemicals, fumes, dust, or work safety hazards.Job Type:
