JOB SUMMARY

Performs routine building cleaning and outdoor maintenance tasks; does related work as required.

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS

This is repetitive manual work requiring efficient performance of simple building cleaning and outdoor maintenance duties. An employee in this class works under general supervision on routine recurring assignments, receiving specific instructions on each new or unusual assignment. The work is reviewed via inspection by the Custodial Supervisor. Multiple shift options are available.

JOB FUNCTIONS

Sweeps, scrubs, strips, waxes and buffs floors; Washes windows; Dusts woodwork, furniture and other articles; Cleans, sanitizes and deodorizes restrooms and replenishes supplies; Empties waste cans, and ash trays; Replaces light bulbs; Vacuums carpets and upholstered chairs; Empties trash into the hopper. Shampoo carpets. Travels between different county operated buildings in a variety of weather Activating/Deactivating Alarm Systems Other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Works indoors at multiple county buildings in adequate workspace with adequate temperatures, ventilation and lighting. Works with average exposure to noise from equipment both indoors and outdoors Normal indoor exposure to dust/dirt; more exposure when cleaning air ducts Subject to working different shifts as needed Subject to working in adverse conditions, depending on assignment. MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Must possess ability to record, convey, and present information, explain procedures, follow instructions Must be able to stand and walk intermittently for long periods throughout the workday, with occasional sitting, bending, twisting, stooping, climbing, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching and grasping or driving, as necessary, to carry out job duties. Dexterity requirements range from simple to coordinated movements of fingers/hands, feet/legs, and torso as required for job duties. Heavy work, with frequent lifting/carrying of objects weighing from 20-25 pounds; occasionally lifting up to 100 pounds. Must demonstrate emotional stability Must be able to move frequently throughout the day Must have average strength and physical endurance and the ability to lift up to 100 pounds if necessary

Some knowledge of cleaning methods supplies and equipment, and ability to use them economically and efficiently; ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions; thoroughness; dependability. Flexibility to travel to different work sites. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE and

TRAINING

• High School Diploma (Preferred)
• Preferably some building cleaning experience or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge
• Must have a valid PA driver's license
• Must be willing to submit to a security checks
• Subject to Criminal Background check
