The Custodian / Furniture Handler is a general laborer position. In addition to general cleaning and janitorial duties in common areas, restrooms and break areas, the custodian assists the delivery, transfer and merchandising teams in moving furniture, is responsible for packing and unpacking goods, performs minor repairs, assists in showroom and facilities maintenance and upkeep, hangs wall art and mirrors, helps customers with pick-ups, and so on. The ideal candidate enjoys a variety of hands-on tasks and interaction with people. The associate works 3 days per week -- 2 weekdays + Saturday. Some flexibility in work hours is available, though must be during showroom hours. The successful candidate will also bring to the position: Knowledge of safety hazards and proper use of cleaning and sanitizing solutions; Proficiency with basic hand tools; Ability to accurately read a measurement tape or ruler; Ability to lift 75 lbs alone, and up to 150 lbs with another person; Ability to work weekdays, Saturdays and minor holidays; Sufficient ability to read, write, speak, understand and communicate in English to complete work efficiently, effectively and courteously.
