Part-Time, 25 hours per week
Schedule:
Primarily weekdays, 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Compensation:
Hourly, based on experience ($18.00-$20.00) Position Overview St. Philip School is seeking a dependable and experienced Custodian & Facilities Specialist to support daily school operations. This role plays an important part in ensuring that school facilities are clean, safe, functional, and welcoming for staff, students, and families. The successful candidate will be able to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and take initiative in maintaining school buildings and grounds. General Description Maintains a clean and presentable school infrastructure including classrooms, hallways, rooms, offices, and entranceways. Responsible for all maintenance of buildings and grounds at St. Philip School, including oversight, coordination, and follow-through on maintenance needs and repairs. Ensures facilities are clean and in good working order, maintaining and recommending preventive maintenance, and assessing the need for minor and major repairs. Specific Job Responsibilities Ensure school and classroom areas are prepared for daytime and evening activities and events. This includes, but is not limited to: cleanliness, appropriate and adequate lighting, accessibility through appropriate entryways, adequate heating or cooling, etc. Perform routine maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, unclogging drains, and repairing locks, doors, hinges, and gates. Perform custodial duties including mopping, vacuuming, dusting, waxing woodwork, and general cleaning, etc. Remove trash and recycling from office spaces, meeting rooms, classrooms, and restrooms. Meet with regular or emergency contractors to facilitate access and coordinate work. Take inventory of cleaning and maintenance supplies and submit replenishment requests. Perform other related duties consistent with the role as school needs arise. Independent Work & Judgment Work independently with minimal supervision to complete daily custodial and maintenance responsibilities. Perform routine inspections of school buildings and grounds and proactively address or report issues as they arise. Use sound judgment to prioritize tasks based on safety, weather conditions, scheduled services, and school needs. Communicate clearly with school leadership regarding facility conditions, completed work, and emerging concerns. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and follow through on responsibilities without close supervision. Comfortable interacting with vendors, contractors, students, families, school staff, and clergy in a professional manner. Must be able to read and write in English. Must be capable of performing a variety of physical tasks and movements including lifting up to 40 lbs., standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and squatting and climbing ladders up to 12 feet. Familiarity and competency with mechanical and electrical systems. Education, Training, and/or Experience High school diploma or GED desirable but not required. Must possess a minimum of 1 year experience performing custodial duties in a church, commercial, or other organizational setting. Special Requirements Must be available to respond on-call to facility-related emergencies and occasional operational needs outside of scheduled work hours. Transportation & Proximity Requirements.
