Job Description
The City of Spring Hill is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Custodian to serve multiple city facilities. This employee will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of municipal buildings, managing inventory levels, and utilizing a work order system to ensure timely completion of tasks as well as inventory tracking. This position plays a key role in creating a clean and welcoming environment for employees, residents, and visitors. This is a full-time, non-exempt position, reporting to the Facilities Superintendent. Perform routine cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and sanitizing restrooms and common areas. Empty trash receptacles and replace liners. Clean windows, walls, and other surfaces as needed. Report any maintenance or repair needs to the Facilities Crew Chief through the work order system Monitor and maintain adequate levels of cleaning supplies and equipment. Submit inventory requests to Crew Chief to ensure inventory is stocked and available. Track usage and provide regular inventory reports. Identify and report potential safety hazards. Respond promptly to urgent cleaning or maintenance requests. Ensure compliance with city and OSHA safety standards while handling and storing cleaning supplies/equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision. Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and chemicals. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness. Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 lbs. Ability to stand, bend, and move throughout the facility for extended periods. Good communication skills and a positive attitude. Reliable, punctual, and able to manage time effectively.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED required. Office janitorial work experience is strongly preferred. Basic computer skills for using a work order system. Must possess a valid TN Driver's License.EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY STATEMENT
