GENERAL PURPOSE
All Custodians are to maintain attractive, sanitary and safe facilities for students, staff, and the public; minimizing property damage, loss, and liability exposure to the school district.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties. Arrange furnishings and equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparation for meetings, classroom activities, and events Attend training (e.g., instruction on blood-borne pathogens, cleaning solvents, floor care, first aid, etc.) for the purpose of receiving information on new and/or improved procedures Clean assigned school district facilities (e.g., classrooms, offices, gyms, restrooms, multipurpose rooms, pools, grounds, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary, safe, attractive environment Daily attendance and punctuality is required for the purpose of ensuring the goals of the work unit can be met Deliver various items (e.g., supplies, mail, packages, furniture, etc.) for the purpose of distributing materials to the appropriate parties Assist in responding to immediate safety and/or operational concerns (e.g., facility damage, alarms, etc.) for the purpose of taking appropriate action to resolve immediate safety issues and maintaining a functioning physical and educational environment Inspect school district facilities for the purpose of ensuring the site is suitable for safe operations and maintained in an attractive and clean condition, and identifying any repairs that may be necessary due to vandalism, equipment breakage, weather conditions, etc. May need to perform work at heights of up to 12 feet using ladders and/or scaffolding for the purpose of cleaning, changing light bulbs, replacing ceiling tiles, etc. Prepare school district facilities for daily operations (e.g., opening gates and building access doors, disarming security systems, raising flags, placing crosswalk signs, performing minor repairs, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring school district facilities are operational and safe Secure school district facilities and grounds for the purpose of minimizing property damage, equipment loss, and potential liability to the school district Service job-related machinery/equipment (e.g., adjusting, cleaning, and oiling vacuum cleaners, scrubbers, buffers; change brushes, pads, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining equipment in good working condition
