Job Description

The City of Forney is seeking a dependable individual to join our Public Works department as a Custodian . This position is a great opportunity for someone looking to begin a career in facilities maintenance while helping maintain a clean and safe environment. We encourage individuals who are ready to start a new opportunity to apply. The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties. Performs routine janitorial and custodial duties in the cleaning and sanitizing of City buildings and facilities. Buffs and waxes floor, cleans windows, and cleans and stocks bathrooms. Maintains cleaning and equipment supply inventory; ensures that City departments are properly stocked with related supplies. Reports repair needs to appropriate personnel; cooperates with vendors in the repair city buildings and facilities as assigned. Assists Facilities Maintenance Technician with performing minor building maintenance and repair duties; changes light bulbs; replaces ceiling tiles; makes minor plumbing repairs. Prepare facilities for special events and meetings; sets up and tears down chairs and tables. Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
No direct supervision exercised. Possess a valid driver's license. High School Diploma or equivalent One (1) year of experience in manual labor or related field preferred. Physical Demands /
Work Environment:
Indoor and outdoor environments, exposure to environmental hazards and chemicals. Ability to sit, stand, walk, crouch, lift, push, pull, climb, operate, and carry equipment. Work on-call or extended hours. Ability to push up to 50 pounds and lift up to 20 pounds.
