To Be Determined Job Description Part-Time Custodian - Specific hours TBD Qualifications High school diploma or GED (preferred) Previous custodial or maintenance experience (helpful but not always required) Basic knowledge of cleaning methods, chemicals, and equipment Ability to perform minor maintenance and repairs Physical ability to lift, bend, stand, and walk for extended periods Ability to follow instructions and work independently Dependable, punctual, and strong attention to detail Major Responsibilities Clean and maintain classrooms, hallways, restrooms, offices, and common areas Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors (including waxing or buffing) Empty trash and dispose of waste properly Sanitize high-touch surfaces to maintain hygiene Restock supplies (soap, paper towels, toilet paper, etc.) Perform minor repairs (light bulbs, leaks, basic upkeep) Set up and break down furniture for school events and activities Maintain outdoor areas (sidewalks, entrances, grounds) Report maintenance issues or safety concerns to administration Assist with opening and closing the building when needed Safety Responsibilities Follow proper procedures for handling and storing cleaning chemicals Use personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves or masks when required Identify and report hazards (spills, broken equipment, unsafe conditions) Ensure floors are safe and dry to prevent slips and falls Follow school safety and emergency protocols (fire drills, lockdowns, etc.) Maintain clear exits and hallways at all times Properly use and maintain cleaning equipment to prevent injury Follow OSHA and district safety guidelines
