Job Description
Responsible for cleaning all the county facilities. Required to practice equipment and supplies control; procure and maintain adequate stocks of equipment and supplies; use and report serviceability problems with department equipment; and support the department's general technicians. Supervise a small crew consisting of work release personnel. Cleans interior of all downtown county facilities. Cleaning and polishing light fixtures, marble surfaces, trim, walls, hallways, lobbies, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas. Sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, and polishing floors, rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies. Dusting furniture and equipment; and polishing metalwork. Washing walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, doors, panels, and sills. Empty and clean wastebaskets. Transport trash and waste to disposal area. Refill, repair, and replace toilet paper, paper towel, and soap dispensers. Perform periodic odor control measures throughout county facilities. Operate carpet extractors, vacuums, and buffers. Inventories warehouse/storage areas to determine availability of supplies. Ensure all work release are properly signed in and out, and are assigned to the appropriate individual(s). Supervise work release personnel. Responsible for security of all janitorial equipment and supplies. Properly store and identify all cleaning chemicals. Assess maintenance department needs and requisition equipment and materials for cleaning, as well as supplies in need of restocking or tools/machines in need of replacing. Respond to emergency situations as required; i.e., floods, fire, medical, terrorist, injuries, bomb threats, breeches of security, and notifying security officers. Operate vehicles including pickups and forklifts. Follow all applicable fiscal county policies concerning: attendance; documentation of work, dress and personal appearance; hazard and alarms, confidentiality; licensing and regulation. Respond to 24hr. emergency maintenance call back system and provide after hours overtime work as needed. Complete other duties as may be assigned.

Supervise work release personnel to perform assigned tasks as required.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
High school graduation (or its equivalent) plus at least one year of experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Valid Texas Driver's License.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Principles of supervision, janitorial practices; computer usage; and county facility policies and procedures. Safe operation of the equipment used and of the provisions of the Texas Motor Vehicle Code relating to operation of such motorized equipment. Understand and follow instructions. Identify numbers and order parts. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Work effectively and cooperatively with co-workers.PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit and stand for extended periods of time; use hands to finger motion, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee must frequently bend, stoop, lie down, and walk. The employee may be required to work in some extremely small chases and attic crawl spaces. The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds, such as tools and equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, peripheral vision, ability to focus, and perceive color. Vision may be corrected with glasses or contact lenses. Employee will be required to work in confinement areas, office buildings, and warehouses with standard incandescent and fluorescent lighting, to handle and properly dispose of hazardous chemicals, and work in areas of loud noise. Tolerate outside conditions, including exposure to adverse weather conditions.DISCLAIMER
