To help maintain the physical school plans in the condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of it may be made at all times. Education/Certification:
High School Diploma or GED, preferred Clear driving record, required Valid Texas driver's Class C license, requiredSpecial Knowledge/Skills:
Proficiency in both English and Spanish Ability to read, write and speak in an effective manner Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment Ability to handle cleaning supplies in a safe and harmless manner Ability to perform minor repairs of building and grounds maintenance tools and equipmentExperience:

Starting pay for a new hire in a pay range plan will be determined individually based on each person's job-related experience and salaries paid to peer employees in the same position with similar experience.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Provide a program of preventive maintenance for all custodians that will ensure buildings and premises are kept neat, clean and safe at all times. 2. Inspect the building daily, make minor building repairs as needed and report major repairs and/or safety hazards to the immediate supervisor on appropriate forms. 3. Assist staff with movement of furniture, supplies and equipment as necessary or as directed by supervisors. 4. Use safe practices in the custodial maintenance of the facility and conduct monthly safety meetings with assigned staff. 5. Comply with safety and hazardous laws and regulations in the performance of his/her job to include training of assigned staff. 6. Maintain an inventory of all cleaning supplies and equipment and order additional supplies as needed. 7. Attend meetings as required or directed by supervisors. 8. Perform job safety training, asbestos awareness notification and training on use of maintenance supplies and equipment. 9. Assist in overseeing other custodians and in providing orientation to new employees. 10. Document and verify work time sheets/timecards for himself/herself and other assigned staff. 11. Work outside of regular assigned work schedule to include extra-curricular functions and to repair/replace needed facilities that may involve night and/or weekend duty as requested. 12. Develop and maintain a cleaning schedule that will include the cleaning of floors, whiteboards, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment and restrooms. 13. Assist other custodians in stripping floors and waxing as needed. 14. Inspect machines and equipment for safety and efficiency. 15. Establish and monitor procedures for opening and closing the building, locking, checking and safeguarding facilities daily. 16. Assume responsibility during the summer for the painting of the interior and exterior of the building, as well as blackboards. 17. Stay informed of the District's energy conservation procedures and implement them at his/her campus. 18. Perform crossing guard duties as assigned. 19. Follow McAllen ISD customer service standards. 20. Perform other duties assigned by immediate supervisor (primary evaluator).SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
