Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Custodian to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order in various facilities, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all occupants. This role requires attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. The hours would be after school gets out, typically after 3:15 PM. Additional hours may possible for maintenance projects and landscape work. Duties Perform routine cleaning tasks including dusting, sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors. Maintain restrooms by cleaning and restocking supplies as needed. Conduct floor care activities such as buffing, waxing, and stripping to ensure high-quality appearance. Handle industrial cleaning tasks in designated areas, ensuring compliance with safety standards. Assist with facilities maintenance tasks as required, including minor repairs and upkeep of equipment. Ensure all cleaning supplies and equipment are properly maintained and stored. Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel promptly. Provide porter services when necessary, assisting with the movement of furniture or equipment. Qualifications Previous custodial or janitorial experience is preferred but not mandatory. Familiarity with commercial cleaning practices and techniques is advantageous. Experience in floor care techniques such as buffing and waxing is a plus. Knowledge of residential painting can be beneficial for occasional touch-up tasks. Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards. Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions effectively.
