JOB SUMMARY
The Custodian maintains an attractive, sanitary, and safe facility for students, staff, and the public, provides equipment and furniture arrangements for meetings, classroom activities, and events, and minimizes property damage, loss, and liability exposure.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
All positions require selected candidates to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a criminal background check. Additional minimum required qualifications for this position are: One (1) year of job-related experience Speak, read, write, present professionally, analyze, understand, and interpret written and verbal communications in English
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in a K-12 education or public employment environment High school diploma or equivalent Valid Driver's license and evidence of insurability Experience following safety practices and procedures, including industrial cleaning methods, Team Cleaning, Integrated Pest Management (I.P.M.), and Green Cleaning concepts Spanish or other language proficiency, includingthe ability to read, write, speak, and understand Basic experience and proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.) and experience using data-based software
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Clean assigned school facilities (e.g., classrooms, offices, gym, restrooms, multipurpose rooms, grounds, etc.) to maintain a sanitary, healthy, safe, and attractive environment while utilizing industrial cleaning methods, team cleaning, I.P.M., and Green Cleaning concepts and cleaning tools such as Protexus Electrostatic sprayers with Pathosans cleaner Prepare facility for daily operations (e.g., opening gates, building access doors, disarming security systems, raising flags, crosswalk signs, minor repairs, etc.) to ensure facilities are operational and safe for occupancy Arrange furnishings and equipment to provide adequate preparations for meetings, classroom activities, and events Assist the Head Custodian with snow removal to maintain a safe environment Assist the Head Custodian in maintaining supplies and equipment (e.g., cleaning solutions, paper products, vacuum, mops, etc.) to maintain a sanitary, healthy, safe, and attractive environment Participate in meetings and training (e.g., bloodborne pathogens, cleaning solvents, floor care, first aid, etc.) to receive information on current or updated procedures Repair minor furniture and equipment damage to ensure that items are available and in safe working condition Respond to immediate safety and operational concerns (e.g., facility damage, injured and ill students, alarms, etc.) to take appropriate action to resolve immediate safety issues and maintain a functioning educational environment Secure facilities and grounds to minimize property damage, equipment loss, and potential liability to the district Substitute for the Head Custodian as needed when Assistant Head Custodians are not available to provide coverage that supports efficient department operations Communicate effectively and efficiently with diverse groups of people while maintaining confidentiality and positive working relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and other district employees Work under limited supervision, utilizing time-management and prioritization strategies, accurately processing detailed information, and meeting deadlines Support a team environment by collaborating with own and other work units to perform the duties of the position effectively Adapt to changing work priorities and work with frequent interruptions, as required As needed, roll, push, pull, bend, reach, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit Maintain regular and predictable attendance to fulfill job requirements efficiently and effectively

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and significant fine-finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 10% sitting, 45% walking, and 45% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
