Custodian - PT

Summary We are seeking a dedicated and reliable custodian to join our team at Unionville Elementary. This full-time position is essential for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate will take pride in their work, demonstrate attention to detail, and contribute positively to the school community. Responsibilities Perform daily cleaning and maintenance tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas. Ensure that all cleaning supplies and equipment are used safely and stored properly. Assist with the setup and breakdown of furniture and equipment for school events and activities. Monitor and maintain inventory levels of cleaning supplies, reporting any shortages to the supervisor. Conduct routine inspections of the facility to identify maintenance needs and report issues promptly. Support the recycling and waste management efforts of the school. Collaborate with staff and administration to ensure a clean and healthy environment for students. Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure the well-being of the school community. Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor or school administration. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous custodial or janitorial experience is a plus but not required. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards. Good communication skills and the ability to interact positively with students and staff. Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects, bend, and stand for extended periods. Familiarity with cleaning chemicals and equipment is preferred. Must be able to pass a background check and comply with school district policies. Flexibility to work evenings or weekends as needed for special events.
