Job Description

Overview Buildings & General Service (BGS) at the State of Vermont has an opportunity with room for growth as a Custodian II within the Operations & Management Division. This position will be responsible for the daily custodial duties in state facilities at the Costello Court House in Burlington, as well as part of a team that performs these duties in other state facilities in the area. Travel between these facilities may be required and will utilize a state owned and/or a privately owned vehicle. This position will work Monday through Friday, 12:00pm to 8:30pm. This position requires successful completion of multiple background checks and a valid driver's license. This position is eligible for a sign-on and retention bonus of up to $1000! Only new hires employed by BGS as a BGS Custodian II in the location specified in this job posting are eligible for this bonus program. Environmental Factors Duties are performed during an assigned shift at one or more state owned or leased buildings. Cleaning work often involves addressing bloodborne pathogens and other potentially infections material. Incumbents must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather. Good physical condition and ability to climb ladders and lift weights of up to 50-lbs. is necessary. Overtime and evening work may be required. Minimum Qualifications One (1) year or more of building custodial work that includes floor maintenance tasks such as stripping and waxing floors and carpet extraction. OR One (1) year as a BGS Custodian I. Special Requirements Some positions in this class require a valid driver's license and own transportation for travel between work locations. Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position.
