Share this job SVGs not supported by this browser. Description The custodial helper assists with cleaning and maintaining campus buildings. This is a summer only position with an expected start date in May 2026. This is considered a part-time hourly non-benefits eligible position. The starting wage for this position is $16.94 per hour. Responsibilities Prepares dorm rooms for summer occupants and guests. Restocks toilet paper, paper towels, and soap dispensers. Vacuums, dust mops and wet mops floors, and spot washes walls. Dusts or vacuums furniture. Arranges classroom furniture, cleans chalkboards & whiteboards, restocks chalk, markers and erasers. Cleans entrances and elevators. Sweeps outside steps and polices the outside perimeter of the building. Collects and removes all trash and recycling. Washes windows. Arranges furniture in social spaces/lounges. Supports the College's Recycling program. Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from team liaisons and supervisors. Performs all duties in a safe and professional manner and in accordance with established departmental practices and procedures. Sets up and removes furniture and equipment for special events. Performs other duties as assigned to assist the department in obtaining and maintaining its mission. Physical Demands Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., and push or pull up to 100 lbs. Must be able to lift 10-20 lbs. frequently. Able to walk and climb stairs frequently. Must be able to carry supplies and equipment up and down stairs. Must be able to bend, squat and kneel frequently. Able to perform frequent over-head reaching movements. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., and push or pull up to 100 lbs. Previous Middlebury College employment preferred Able to follow written and oral instructions. Able to establish and maintain working relations with supervisors, fellow workers, students, faculty and the rest of the College staff. May be required to work independently and follow a schedule.
