Job Description

Overview Buildings and General Services (BGS) at the State of Vermont has an entry level opportunity with room for growth as a Custodian II. This position will be maintaining the buildings at the Waterbury Complex working with a diverse and team oriented group. Job responsibilities will be daily cleaning of the buildings in the complex. This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 10:00am to 6:30pm. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a criminal background check are required. BGS provides the facilities services required for all state agencies and departments to accomplish their missions. As part of the Operations and Maintenance Division you will be an essential team member and part of the largest division in BGS.The starting rate may be negotiable based on experience and education. This position is eligible for a sign-on and retention bonus of up to $1000! Only new hires employed by BGS in the location specified in this job posting are eligible for this bonus program. Environmental Factors Duties are performed during an assigned shift at one or more state owned or leased buildings. Cleaning work often involves addressing bloodborne pathogens and other potentially infections material. Incumbents must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather. Good physical condition and ability to climb ladders and lift weights of up to 50-lbs. is necessary. Overtime and evening work may be required. Minimum Qualifications One (1) year or more of building custodial work that includes floor maintenance tasks such as stripping and waxing floors and carpet extraction. OR One (1) year as a BGS Custodian I. Special Requirements Some positions in this class require a valid driver's license and own transportation for travel between work locations. Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position.
