MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or GED; Preferred previous experience with custodial work preferred; Fingerprint background check is required; Must pass a criminal background check that meets required state, federal, and Clarkston School District standards; Must have, or be able to obtain, current, valid CPR/First aid certificate Safe Schools Training is REQUIRED, and needs to be completed BEFORE start date

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute ratio and percent.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

SUMMARY:

Keeps school building and rooms in clean and orderly condition and tends furnace, air conditioner, and boiler to provide heat, cool air, and hot water by performing the following duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Sweeps, mops, scrubs, and vacuums classrooms, gymnasium, cafeteria, hallways, stairs and office space. Empties trash and garbage containers. Maintains building, performing minor and routine painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, and other related maintenance activities. Replaces air conditioner filters. Notifies administration concerning the need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment. Cleans snow and debris from sidewalks as required. Prepares rooms for meetings and programs. Other duties as assigned.
