Job Description
A janitor keeps buildings clean, safe, and sanitary.
Responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, emptying trash, and cleaning restrooms. Stock supplies, sanitize surfaces, and perform minor maintenance. This physically demanding role requires endurance, reliability, flexibility, professionalism, and knowledge of safety protocols. Provide general janitorial for the senior center, library, arts and crafts room.

Core Responsibilities Floor Care:
Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors. Strip, wax, and buff floors as required.Sanitation:
Deep clean and disinfect restrooms; restock toilet paper, paper towels, and soap.Waste Management:
Gather, empty, and clean trash and recycling receptacles throughout the facility.General Cleaning:
clean glass surfaces, and wash windows.Routine Maintenance:
Change lightbulbs, unclog toilets, and perform basic repairs. Report larger maintenance issues to management.Security & Safety:
Lock and secure doors at the end of shifts. Identify hazards and follow health and safety regulations.Qualifications & Requirements Physical Stamina:
Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects, and perform strenuous tasks (e.g., bending, reaching).Experience:
Prior experience in commercial cleaning or building maintenance is highly preferred, though on-the-job training is common.Knowledge:
Familiarity with cleaning chemicals, safety data sheets (SDS), and equipment like buffers and vacuums.Reliability:
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Assist in maintaining thermostat settings and ensuring these are monitored regularly. Assist with de-icing of parking lots in winter. Lawn Maintenance, and shrub trimming Other Duties as assigned.- Hours will be a maximum of 20 per week, time of day can be flexible and will be reviewed during interview.
