Job Description

The Neenah Joint School District is seeking applicants for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Custodian-Relief position at Neenah Middle School. This role follows a Saturday to Wednesday schedule, from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM. The official start date is July 1, 2026, though an earlier start, as soon as June 1, 2026, can be accommodated. Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor of Operations, perform custodial, maintenance, delivery, and grounds duties as assigned while ensuring a safe and sanitary environment for students, staff, and the general public. When custodial substitution at our other K-12 buildings is needed. This position is to perform duties as assigned in assistance to custodial, delivery, maintenance, and grounds at those district facilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Clean and sanitize classrooms, restrooms, locker rooms, flooring, walls, fixtures, furniture, windows, and equipment. Perform minor maintenance of buildings, equipment, and exterior grounds. Organize and perform a complete building cleaning during summer months. Change air filters, light bulbs and electrical ballasts. Initiate stock requisitions for supplies. Snow removal and salting of sidewalks and entranceways. Setup, takedown and relocation of furniture and equipment. Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Operations and or Director of Operations and Maintenance. Clean and maintain swimming pools, including skimming debris, vacuuming, and brushing pool surfaces. Test and balance pool water chemistry (chlorine, pH, alkalinity, etc). Ensure the pool area is clean, organized and free of hazards.
Qualifications:
Must be a motivated, self-starter, be willing to take direction, work with minimal supervision, anticipate building needs, and make independent decisions leading to solutions of problems. Ability to organize and prioritize work. Ability to communicate and work effectively with district staff, students, and the vendors, and the general public using phones, walkie-talkies, and email to ensure facilities are clean, safe, maintained and secure. Ability to effectively use facility software programs to enter or complete work orders. Ability to become familiar with all district buildings, and basic mechanical system operations. Ability to operate custodial, maintenance, and grounds equipment, district vehicles, hand tools, and small power tools. Ability to work from high scaffolds, lifts, and ladders. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds or greater, to walk, stand, bend, twist, crouch, climb, and reach for extended periods of time. Knowledge and experience in the safe and efficient use of cleaners and solvents consistent with Right to Know Guidelines. Willingness to work scheduled overtime to meet building needs. Willingness to attend workshops and/or seminars to enhance job knowledge. Ability to keep and maintain facility records. Knowledge of pool chemicals and safety standards
Additional Requirements:
Graduation from high school is required. Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or equivalent is preferred. Minimum of 3 years' custodial experience is preferred. Must be able to pass a background check. Must be able to pass a physical examination and drug test.
Working Hours:
Saturday to Wednesday , 8 hours per day, from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, with an unpaid 30-minute lunch break. Weekend hours may vary depending on event setup and breakdown needs.

Pay:
$22.46 - $27.04 per hour
