Custodian

Provides routine indoor and outdoor custodial maintenance services for various assigned municipal buildings and grounds. The anticipated schedule for this opening is Monday through Friday, 7:00AM to 3:30 PM, but could adjust based on need. Performs general custodial maintenance of municipal buildings including wall, ceiling, and window washing, upholstery cleaning, dusting, and painting. Cleans and maintains floors including carpeting, tile, and concrete. Cleans restrooms. Removes trash and recyclables. Maintains and replenishes cleaning and related supplies and equipment. Assists maintenance supervisor and maintenance technician as needed. Moves furniture and sets up meeting rooms. Performs minor plumbing tasks as required. Removes snow and salts walkways. Replaces light bulbs when needed. Performs other duties as necessary to maintain a properly presentable facility.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Sufficient strength and dexterity to operate power cleaning equipment safely. Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods. Ability to bend and stoop frequently. Ability to frequently work on ladders at various heights. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, including through email. Ability to work with computer/tablet-based work request system. Knowledge of the occupational hazards and ability to work safely and take precautions. High school diploma or GED. Experience in general maintenance, floor and carpet maintenance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Operation and use of custodial equipment and supplies.

Tasks involve physical operations requiring closely coordinated performance Times where exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Task involves extended period of time standing
