Toolmaker Apprentice Reports To:
Engineering Manager Authority:
All employees have the authority to stop operations/production for the following three reasons: I) a quality defect, 2) an unsafe act, or 3) a health hazard. Job Competencies (include, but are not limited to): Be able to lift at least 40 lbs. Good attention to detail Written and verbal communication skills Basic computer skills in Word, Excel, CAD programming, and Windows. Good math skills Strong understanding of blueprints and technical documents. Strong understanding of the use of precision measurement equipment Job Duties Work under the direction of the Tooling Engineer for daily tasks such as tool cleaning, setup, prep for storage, and other tool related tasks. Able to use tool room equipment (mills, lathes, surface grinders) to perform basic repairs on tools. Ensure that all tooling modifications are documented in the history file as well as tracking the cleaning schedule of all production tools. Document on the Mold Repair Order form (521509) all work completed, following the written instructions from the routing, or requests for emergency tool work Perform an inventory of spare components by tool and alert the engineer of potential risks due to lack of components. Work with engineering and sales to quote spare parts, date code pins, etc to the customers Conduct all pertinent preventative maintenance activities on tool room equipment and seek the assistance of the maintenance department when required. Contact equipment vendors when needed to price out repairs, or replacement parts and submit requisition with explanation for approval. Trouble-shoot current process for any potential tooling improvements toward the goal of obtaining a robust and repeatable cycle. Other duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager Maintain the highest quality work to continuously ensure customer satisfaction. EOE Compensation is based on experiencePay:
