Monday-Friday (12 months)

Work Hours:

40 hours per week (within the 7:00-3:00 time frame). Non-standard hours may extend beyond the 7:00-3:00 time frame (i.e. when snow removal is required in the early morning).

Director of Maintenance & Principal Job Summary:

The School custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment for students, staff, and visitors. This position ensures the cleanliness of classrooms, restrooms, hallways, and common areas while assisting with minor maintenance and safety-related tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust classrooms, offices, hallways, and other school areas daily. Clean and disinfect restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and floors. Refill soap, paper towels, and toilet paper dispensers. Empty trash and recycling bins and dispose of waste properly. Clean cafeteria areas and assist with setup and breakdown for school events as needed. Monitor and report maintenance or safety issues (e.g., leaking faucets, damaged flooring, broken windows). Maintain janitorial equipment and supplies; report low inventory. Assist with snow/ice removal or seasonal yard work as required. Support emergency cleaning needs during the school day (spills, sickness, etc.). Follow all health, safety, and sanitation regulations.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous janitorial or custodial experience preferred Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods. Knowledge of cleaning supplies, techniques, and safe chemical usage. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Background check and fingerprint clearance required.
