GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This full-time night custodian position plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for employees and the public in State facilities. Working collaboratively with team members, this position is responsible for performing general cleaning duties across a variety of areas and surfaces to ensure facilities are well-maintained and presentable. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level. Responsible for general cleaning, vacuuming floors and furniture, emptying trash and recycling containers, dusting, mopping, sanitizing, washing windows and mirrors, and cleaning/stocking restrooms, bathrooms, and offices. Learn where custodial supplies are kept and replenish supplies when needed. Observe and identify areas that need repair and submit information to the supervisor. Complies with state and federal policies such as OSHA and EPA. Operates and maintains equipment, including hand and shop tools. Moves furniture and sets up conference rooms for meetings and events. Performs designated watchman rounds to ensure security and safety, checks building systems for proper function, and updates security logs. Performs chemical renovations. Monitors fire protection systems.
PREFERENCES
Preference will be given to applicants with prior experience working with cleaning materials and chemicals.
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of materials, supplies, equipment, and methods of more technical cleaning and maintenance. Knowledge of power and manual tools. Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High School Diploma Experience:
0-6 months of progressive work experience (typically in Building and Grounds)
OR Education & Experience Substitution:
1-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Building and Grounds)
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
None
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
: Exposure to hazardous materials, chemicals, bio-hazards, and elements. Must be able to drive vehicles and operate large, complex cleaning and grounds maintenance equipment. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
