Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for assisting Cook in preparation and distribution of meals, cleaning and sanitation of soiled dishes, pots and pan, delivering meals as needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Prepares salads, coffee, beverages, dessert, etc. as instructed. Prepares and packs daily "Meals on Wheels" cold dishes. Drives and delivers for current food programs. Helps shop/order for meals and supplies. Collects and removes trash and garbage to designated containers. Cleans kitchen work areas, equipment, walls, cabinets, storage areas, floors and other areas assigned in accordance with established procedures. Washes dishes, cookware, flatware and trays using approved procedures. Unloads groceries and supplies and places them in appropriate locations. Organizes lists for needed local and vendor products. Shops for local cold products twice a week or as needed. Rotates and labels incoming food products. Records daily cold food temperatures and afternoon refrigerated equipment temperatures. Assists the cook daily in serving of the food. Dresses in clean appropriate clothing; represents Center Meal Program in a professional manner under all circumstances. Works cooperatively with other employees and volunteers with objective of establishing and maintaining a successful Meal Program. Follows all Coconino County Health Department and AZ Nutrition guidelines. Complies with all Federal, State and County Regulations. Follow all Coconino County and NACOG food health and safety guidelines as required Attends training opportunities as available. Help stock - truck delivery, rotation of food and delivery dates Keep the kitchen area, walk-in cooler, pantry, serving area, freezers, restroom and the kitchen office clean always Sweep and mop floors as needed (Kitchen area, serving area, walk-in cooler, restroom and kitchen office) Clean floor drains twice a month Wipe down refrigerators, freezers, carts, counters, and sinks, as well as washing silverware and trays at the end of lunch Date and put away any leftover food from lunch During the absence of the Kitchen Supervisor, as the Assistant, prepare and cook meals as needed, which includes prepping for the following day and lining food out for the following meals. This also means placing orders for items needed for the menu Assist the Kitchen Supervisor with making the menu for the following month Communicating any occurrences to either the Executive Cook or the Community Center Manager Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED preferred; and One (1) year of prior experience in food service department preferred.
Licenses or Certifications:
Valid State driver's license. Valid Food Handler's certificate.
Special Requirements:
Level 1 fingerprint card clearance.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to stand, stoop, lift moderate weights, and pull and push items. Ability to work under conditions of sudden changes in temperature when entering refrigerated areas or working around serving counters and equipment; Ability to be flexible in the daily operations and tasks as needed. Ability to use listed tools and equipment. Ability to read, write and communicate well. Ability to follow safety regulations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. The following physical abilities are required: crawling, crouching, feeling, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, and visual acuity.
