Position Description Monserate Winery is a new family winery that has a vision of delivering excellence and fun, with a focus on integrity and community. The Banquet Steward is responsible for putting away deliveries, organizing, maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen, walk-in, freezer and dry storage area, sanitation and food service areas. The role supports chefs, kitchen staff, and restaurant operations by ensuring utensils, equipment, dishes, and workspaces meet hygiene and safety standards. A banquet steward is a hospitality staff member responsible for keeping the kitchen and service areas clean, organized, and supplied. The role supports chefs and cooks so operations run smoothly. In banquets, a steward will also help with inventory and equipment maintenance. The position usually does not require formal qualifications, but employers often value reliability, physical stamina, teamwork, and attention to cleanliness. It can also be an entry point into hospitality careers, with some people moving into kitchen or supervisory roles later. Key Responsibilities Assist with receiving and stocking deliveries Label, store, and rotate food using FIFO procedures Monitor food quality and report low inventory or spoiled items Wash, peel, chop, slice, and portion ingredients Prepare sauces, dressings, and basic food items according to recipes Measure and organize ingredients for cooks and chefs Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen areas, utensils, and equipment Follow food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety guidelines Support line cooks during busy service periods as needed Required Skills & Qualifications Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen safety Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Strong attention to detail and organization Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weight Teamwork and communication skills Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays Preferred Qualifications Previous restaurant or kitchen experience Food Handler Certification Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment Join us to be part of a vibrant team dedicated to delivering outstanding service through teamwork, efficiency, and enthusiasm. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be working in typical conditions of a tasting room to include hard flooring with uneven ground. May occasionally be exposed to wet floors. On the grounds, may encounter walking on grass, dirt, debris, uneven ground, vineyards, etc. Required to perform duties in an indoor and outdoor environment in a variety of settings, including restaurant dining hall and outdoor courtyard.
